Failure was not a word that Dr. Zeek understood as he sought answers from the DNA of all of life’s creatures. And so, the unhinged geneticist continued his work for countless years – conducting unsuccessful trial after unsuccessful trial – until, finally, he made a breakthrough.

In the DNA of the common turtle, Dr. Zeek unearthed an intriguing genetic footprint when combined with a secretive substance known only as DMRL-4…
On the brink of discovering the holy grail of extending the human lifespan, the doctor threw back his hands and cackled (as all eccentric experimenters like to do).
Those who critiqued him, who may just as well have spat upon his life’s work would rue the day they ever mocked him!
Yet, when straying too close to the limits laid by nature, there is always a price to pay…
As Dr. Zeek danced about the lab like the madman he was, a fuse shorted and caused a radioactive silo to explode. And when it did, it sent DMRL-4 splattering throughout the lab…
Drenched in the dangerous substance, the geneticist fell to his knees as he began melting down to nothing. DMRL-4 ran down to the very bowels of the laboratory, where laid the bodies of the 1,978 turtles that had provided the genetic supplies for Dr. Zeek’s experiments. And as he lay melting, he watched strange shapes emerge from the shadows…
Saturated with DMRL-4, the turtles had not only returned to life but mutated into unsettling, terrifying and hilarious forms. Suddenly free, they burst from the laboratory. Burrowing up through the ground, they escaped into the world – in search of fresh water and good times
